In November, every child from Reception to Year 6 worked together on static bikes to collectively cover the 480km distance from Cobholm to our partner town, Rambouillet, France. From Lowestoft to London, from Dieppe to Rouen, our pupils “travelled” through each milestone, cheering one another on as they clocked up the kilometres.

Alongside the cycling challenge, pupils took part in a rich French cultural experience. Younger children learned colours while creating their own French flags and practiced simple greetings such as BonjourMerci, and Au revoir through imaginative café role-play. Others explored French foods—croissants, baguettes, and cheese—while older classes designed Tour de France jerseys, created French landmark postcards, and even tried their hand at mini French conversations. The project also tied beautifully into our Rights Respecting Schools work, exploring key UN articles on play, culture, and every child’s right to be heard.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of families, friends, and our community, the school raised over £800. This fantastic total means we are once again able to take all children to the local pantomime.
